Happy Healthy Being Blog W.O.W (word of the week): authentic
Hi Everbody! Barbara Cookson here with the Happy Healthy Being Blog Word of the Week! Last week's word was perfection.
We talked about celebrating everybody's perfect imperfections. This week, my word is authentic. The reason the word of the week is authentic is because last week,
I was at Brendon Burchard's Expert's Academy and he talked a lot about being authentic and being perfectly you. So this week I had a mastermind call with 8 beautiful entreprenurial ladies that I met at Brendon Burchard's event. It's funny how words come up and things come up that are synchronistic. One of the ladies today was talking about being authentic and being authentically you, so that had to be my word of the week. So this week, authentic: means real or genuine, being honest, being true. Here's a quote from Brene Brown that I thought was great:
"Authenticity is a collection of choices that we have to make every day. It's about the choice to show up and be real. The choice to be honest.
The choice to let our true selves be seen."
Here's another one that goes along with that.
"Honesty and transparency make you vulnerable. Be honest and transparent anyway." -Mother Theresa
And the last one, another one from Brene Brown:
"The truth is: Belonging starts with self-acceptance. Your level of belonging, in fact, can never be greater than your level of self-acceptance,
because believing that you're enough is what gives you the courage to be authentic, vulnerable and imperfect."
So ......"Just be your authentic self because there's nothing sexier or more beautiful than that." That's a quote from Carol Leifer but I agree 100%. So this week, be authentic.
Use everything you've got to be yourself and be authentic with those around you. Be honest and be true to yourself because that's all we've got. So be happy and be healthy, and have a great day and a great week!
