W.O.W.(Word of the Week): DESSERT
HI everybody! Barbara Cookson here with the Happy Healthy Being Blog Word of the Week! Thanks so much for watching and for all the great coments on last week's gratitude video. I heard from so many of you who started gratitude journals and I think that's awesome. This week's word is dessert....
and before anyone calls the nutrition police, I don't mean to have ice cream for dinner! Have you heard the quote that "life is short, eat dessert first"? Well, I started thinking about that and thought about when I was a kid and my mom said I had to eat all my peas before I could have pie. It took me forever to choke down those peas but I was gonna do it.
Why are there so many of us willing to suffer through some awful experience with the hope there's something fun on the other side? When did Monday become a bad day and Friday a good day? They're just days. Why do we suffer through so many months of work before we can think about having some fun or maybe going on vacation? Or worse, have you known someone who stays miserable in a job for years saying "well, when I retire, maybe I'll be able to__________________" . How sad.
Lets start enjoying every day. Really, tomorrow just may never come. Here's a quote from Dwight Moody:
"Preparation for old age should begin no later than one's teens. A life which is empty of purpose until 65 will not suddenly become filled on retirement."
And my favorite quote from Calvin and Hobbes. My dad was a huge Calvin and Hobbes fan.
"We're so busy watching out for what's just ahead of us that we don't take time to enjoy where we are."
Let's go into our Monday like it's Friday. Can you imagine if everyone went to work with that Friday attitude on Monday? People might think we're crazy! Let's start having dessert first. I'm gonna have cake. :o)
Thanks for watching and please leave a comment below this video and let me know what you think and what you're having for dessert!!!!
